Welcome!

Welcome to Acorn Test Prep. If you are an intermediate to advanced-level English language learner interested in improving your skills, you have come to the right place – especially if you are planning to sit an English proficiency test.

Why Acorn?

I chose an acorn as the symbol for my tutoring business because the acorn stands for the potential within you. An acorn has the potential to grow into an oak tree with good soil and the proper amount of sunlight and water. In the same way, you can become the user of English you visualize yourself to be in the future with the proper motivation and training.

If you are motivated to reach a certain level of English, you already have “good soil” within you. All you need now is proper training to reach your goal. That is my job.

My Experience

I have over 25 years of teaching experience. I began my career as an English grammar and writing tutor, where I helped my tutees to improve their college papers through better paragraph and sentence structure, correct citations, and proper use of grammar. My career then moved into adult literacy, where I helped my students develop their reading, writing, and math skills to prepare for high school equivalency testing.

Finally, my career moved into higher education, where I taught courses in educational technology. As a former technology teacher, I use a variety of technologies to help my students learn as quickly and efficiently as possible. I am also very patient with those who struggle with technology.

As a result of these experiences, I have a great deal of expertise in teaching English grammar and writing, preparing students for testing, and using technology for instruction.

The focus of my teaching career has always been about helping others develop the academic, workforce, and personal skills they need to live happy, healthy, and productive lives. I am very proud of all my students and of their accomplishments. They come from all walks of life: from various cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, and ability levels, including students with disabilities.
